SETTING QUESTION FOR MISS HULS' NOVEL STUDY GROUPS

BY FRIDAY YOU NEED TO HAVE RESPONDED TO THIS QUESTION AS A GROUP (ONE OF YOU CAN TYPE). MAKE SURE YOUR RESPONSE IS WELL THOUGHT OUT, MAKES SENSE AND IS WRITTEN PROPERLY. USE EXAMPLES FROM THE TEXT.

"How does the writer create the atmosphere
for the setting?
Are there any particular words that help to create this atmosphere?"

ATMOSPHERE IS THE FEELING, EMOTION OR MOOD THE WRITER SHOWS THE READER THROUGH THE DESCRIPTION OF SETTING AND OBJECTS.
TIP: If the setting of your novel has changed, choose the setting that has been most dominant in what you have read so far e.g. home life, and describe the atmosphere for that part.

LIFE IN THE TRENCHES

AS PART OF OUR LEARNING ABOUT WORLD WAR 1, WE HAD A "TRENCH" EXPERIENCE TODAY. WE STAYED IN OUR "TRENCHES" FOR AN HOUR, WITH ONLY A PIECE OF PAPER TO WRITE A LETTER HOME, AND AN ANZAC BISCUIT FOR FOOD. WE HAD SOUNDS EFFECTS- SOUNDS OF BOMBS EXPLODING AND GUNS FIRING.

LEST WE FORGET

LITERATURE CIRCLES

This term we have started Novel Studies using Literature Circles. This means in small groups we are independently reading the same novels and then meet regularly (Literature Circles) to discuss them.
